Parm Walia (Parm) is a communication’s professional, born and raised in Vancouver BC. With 30+ years in experience, and a down-to-earth personality, has enabled her to influence people in a wide range of businesses –thus– build trust, integrity, and loyalty throughout her relationships.
Parm started her professional career at Blanche Macdonald in 1985, earning her a Level I Makeup Artistry diploma. Her love for making women feel beautiful helped her receive her certificate in Cosmetology and Aesthetics in 1989, and a certificate in Level II Makeup Artistry in 1990. In 2020, Parm celebrates 35+ years as an independent makeup artist. She worked in film, but mostly with several cosmetic companies such as Adrien Arpel, MAC, Guerlain, Chanel and more.
An example of her sales ability, she increased weekly revenue for Guerlain Cosmetics from $200 to $2000 per week within one month. Parm is especially proud of her Makeup work in the, “Don’t Get Mad at Me,” Hip Hop music video, which was featured on BET in 1995.
In 1992, Parm went into radio-promotions and landed a three–year gig at CFOX radio station. She assisted with in-house promotions, on-location remotes, concerts, events and more. After falling in love with the Radio Industry, Parm earned a Diploma in Broadcast Performing Arts conducted by Columbia Academy in 1999, and went on to work for Z95.3 FM, JRFM and more recently, RoundHouse Radio (2016-2017), in radio promotions, and events expanding over 30 years.
As radio careers became scarce, in 2007, Parm acquired a Diploma in Publishing at Langara College. She worked for three magazines as the Distribution | Office | Marketing & Public Relations Manager for seven years with Fox Trot Communications. Parm was responsible for distribution, ad design, layout and public relations at Trade Shows such as, The Health & Wellness Shows, Mining Shows, and the Vancouver Film Festival. Her greatest accomplishment was increasing circulation from 4000 to 20,000 within 6 months for The Independent Times (senior publication).
After 5 years upgrading in Social Media Marketing & Public Relations, Parm graduated from BCIT in 2016, and started PW Communications Canada, as a Marketing | Social Media Marketing | PR Consulting Business. Learning the tools in creating marketing plans, social media marketing, and publicity, has sparked her interest in helping businesses increase sales and brand awareness by at least 10-25%.
